Microsoft Silently Supporting Linux..

Microsoft hires Aruba Networks to install world's largest next-gen wireless network...covering 17 million square feet, 277 buildings, and 5000 access points. The press release covering this doesn't mention that Aruba's controllers all run linux...

Somehow this doesn't surprise me one bit, like they don't have servers and workstations running linux ...sure ...

Howto choose your hosting company

Ok, so here's the deal.
I made this website because of people's need for knowledge.
Many people don't know where to buy hosting, or how to buy hosting, and after they paid their money realize that they got something that doesn't match their needs.
So let's start.
The first thing you need to know before purchasing webhosting is what are your requirements. How much webspace you need, how much traffic and other stuff like mails, databases, or software that you may need installed.
Second is the budget. You must know how much you are willing to pay for the services. This depends of every persons willing to pay. If it is a personal site it won't cost to much, but if it's for business it may cost a little more. (for a small site it can be 3$/month). A host that is cheap doesn't mean it is bad, but my personal opinion is that you get what you pay for. (sometimes technical support costs)
Now that you know this you can start searching for webhosts. (google is a good place – or you can contact us)
When you found some webhosts you need to find additional information about them,
like the servers they are running, uptime, how good their technical support is (contact them), response time, and sites hosted with them, and for how long they existed.
Another personal opinion of mine is that you shouldn't pay in advance for more than 3 months, cause many things can happen in 3 months.
Don't go with hosts that offer unlimited webspace and bandwidth (unlimited hard drive haven't been invented yet), cause that means they are overselling and their servers are overcrowded and very used. Overselling is not bad if it is done right.
It's also very important that you read their Terms of service (TOS), cause maybe they won't like some things you do and your account could get suspended.
Also check their “Money Back Guarantee” and don't hesitate to claim your money back if they don't fit your needs.

Feel free to ask me anything you want about webhosting or the material I wrote here.
I am not paid by anybody to add positive reviews about any hosts (like other sites do), I just add and write reviews about hosts that in my opinion are good.
Our webhosting page is here
This is just a little material about webhosting, but ... If you want more information about the webhosting industry visit:
sayorange.com and whreviews.com ...they don't lie either.

AGAIN: Feel free to ask me anything you want about webhosting or the material I wrote here. Also contact me if you want (to add) a review of a webhost.

Cost of Bots

Here's the true value of a compromised PC...

"Ancheta's arrest casts light on a shadowy industry so competitive that the sale of access to 2,000 compromised PCs can fetch as little as $400, or 20 cents per machine."

The Real Cost of Retraining for OpenOffice.org

One of the most frequently voiced objections when discussing a migration to OpenOffice.org is the cost of retraining the users. The argument is raised as a cost barrier, and essentially amounts to claiming that it would be cheaper to upgrade to the next version of Microsoft Office than to retrain users on OpenOffice.org.

I don't really got the idea "to retrain". What is to retrain? ...it is exactly the same thing, just that one is free.
Just install open office and tell the users it is the newest version of office, an upgrade, they will use it.

Linux VS Windows ...reloaded

You think Linux sucks ?
Windows sucks even better, it dont have su!! What kind of a OS dont have su? Or aleast something that dont require a logout to change to adminstration (or, in *nix terms, root). And, about those companies saying “Windows is more secure then Linux”, they should also burn in hell with Microsoft. How can they compare a bare Windows system with nothing on it to a full Linux Distribution with several hundred applications? Huh? How is that fair? Its Not. Those companies are paid by Microsoft (*hint* *hint*) to prove that Windows is more secure, yet, their benchmarks (the number of vulns released in a period of time) are not too accurate….they compare a basic Windows 2003 Server install to a full Redhat Server install, which contains much more then that. Also, about their “Windows is cheaper then Linux” accusations…….how much did Microsoft bribe them to say that? 10k? 15k? Thats probably how Windows is cheaper….when Microsoft pays you off for saying its cheaper, and Linux dont have to pay you off, because it already is cheaper, and everyone knows it. IT costs are not usually higher with Linux, as long as you dont have a bunch of nitwits working in your IT department…which, in most MS running places is pretty much true..hehe.
